August, 2017

Welcome to the 2017–2018 school year.  For those of you who have previously been at Arnold, welcome back to what will be another successful and rewarding school year.  To those of you who are new to Arnold, I look forward to getting to know you in the upcoming school year.

At Arnold, we truly believe that the key to a successful school is a product of the partnership between home, school, and community.  Research shows that parent involvement is critical to the academic success of all students.  Because parents are so vital in the educational process, I want to encourage you to take an active role in your child’s education.  There are many ways to become involved at Arnold.  You might want to serve as a parent volunteer, a chaperone for class field trips, or attend a parent education program. Again this year, for the safety of our children, all volunteers will need to fill out paperwork for a background check provided by the Clayton County Public Schools Police Department.

In addition, I want to encourage you to become an active member of our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).  Arnold’s PTO is made up of hardworking parents and teachers who plan many activities to enhance student learning.  Please join and make a difference!

School uniforms are still the expected dress at Arnold. Shirt colors are blue (any shade), gold, yellow, or white. The pant colors are blue, black, or khaki. Additional information will be posted on Arnold’s website. If you have additional questions, please call the school.

Remember, daily attendance is very important.  Students should be in their seats prior to 7:45 AM.  Students arriving after the bell rings at 7:45 AM must be signed in by an adult and receive a tardy slip.  If your child plans to eat breakfast at school, he/she must be in the cafeteria prior to 7:35 AM to give them enough time to eat and arrive in their classroom prior to 7:45 AM.

Arnold’s dismissal procedures begin at 2:15 PM each day.  Kindergarten, Grade 1 and day care students are called first each day followed by Grades 2-5. When the buses leave, our walkers and car riders are called. The remaining students (K-5) are dismissed from inside the building.  It is imperative that all students be picked up prior to 2:45 PM because there is no supervision after this time as teachers and other staff members are obligated to other duties.  You may want to consider enrolling your child in Campus Kids or arrange other day care if you are unable to pick up your child by 2:45 PM.

Be sure to set goals and high expectations for your child’s school work.  Let’s work together to ensure those goals and high expectations are met.

I am excited about working with each of you this year.  I consider Arnold to have the best faculty, parents, and students in the county.  Remember, we are working together so that we can achieve greatness.

Respectfully Yours,

Myron Allen, Principal
