Mr. Allen

July 07, 2021
Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year, which is guaranteed to be a new adventure for us all. As you recall, the physical attendance of students in the school ended in early March 2020 due to the COVID 19 pandemic, which was necessary as we secured the safety of all stakeholders. In preparing for the 2021/2022 school year, Clayton County Public Schools sought the guidance of multiple sources including the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in order to reopen schools safely.

For the 2021-2022 school year, the Clayton County School Board voted to begin the school year face-to-face with an option for virtual learning.  In preparing for a new school year, please take the time to think about the important role you play in helping your child have a successful school year.  We encourage you to partner with your child’s teacher to ensure your child’s success. A strong home-to-school partnership with frequent communication is of vital importance in building a meaningful instructional program for your child. The beginning of school is the best time to set learning goals and high expectations for your student’s schoolwork.

Attendance is a major priority at JW Arnold. All students (including virtual) are expected to be seated and ready for learning at 7:45 am each day.  If your student is ill, please inform your child’s teachers. Students will be dismissed from class at 2:15 pm each day.

Student class assignments will be posted on the front doors of the school beginning Thursday, July 29th after 1:00 pm. You may come by and see which teacher your child will have for the 2021/2022 school year. Unfortunately, there will be no admittance to the building.

Join us virtually for Meet Your Teacher on Friday, July 30th. Grade level teachers will pre-record a video of introduction.  The links will be posted on JW Arnold’s website on Friday, July 30th by 12:00pm.  Parents/Students may watch the video at their leisure.  Individual questions can be asked during JW Arnold’s Curriculum Nights, which be held within the first two weeks of school.

We strongly encourage each of you to attend your child’s Virtual Curriculum Night. At that time, you will have the opportunity to hear what and how your child will learn this year. The links for Virtual Curriculum Night will be posted on the school’s website during the first week of school. You will be allowed to ask questions during this time.

We continue to ask EVERYONE to have a heart of positivity, passion, and compassion as we transition fully back to face-to-face instruction.

Respectfully Yours,
Myron Allen, Principal
